BUSINESS TAXES SPECIALIST I, BOARD OF EQUALIZATION
The California Department of Tax and Fee Administration (CDTFA) is seeking a Business Taxes Specialist I to conduct complex licensing inspections and monitor compliance. The role involves preparing inspection reports, conducting field observations, and coordinating with other governmental agencies.
Responsibilities
- Independently conducts the most difficult and complex licensing inspections
- Issues non-compliance citations
- Monitors and follows courtroom disposition of citations issued
- Conducts administrative seizures
- Appears in court proceedings
- Prepares appropriate inspection and seizure reports
- Conducts field observations
- Assists in identifying interrelated fraud schemes
- Coordinates efforts with other governmental agencies
Skills
- Ability to transport materials (including cannabis and tobacco products) weighing up to fifty (50) pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation
- Work long and irregular hours, both in and out of the office and in various locations in an assigned area
- May work in a high-rise building
- Exposure to cannabis, nicotine, and other related products deemed potentially hazardous
- Position requires employee to be fingerprinted and successfully pass a background investigation
- Travel is required up to fifty percent (50%) of the time
- To perform the essential duties of the position with the Inspections Bureau, staff must complete and pass PC 832 training. Successful completion of PC 832: Arrest, Search & Seizure, will be required prior to the conclusion of the probationary period and appointment into the Business Taxes Specialist I classification
- Applicants must provide a copy of discharge papers (DD 214) for verification purposes at the time of application
- Completed applications and all required documents must be received or postmarked by the Final Filing Date in order to be considered
- Current version of the State Examination/Employment Application STD Form 678 (when not applying electronically), or the Electronic State Employment Application through your Applicant Account at www.CalCareers.ca.gov
- Resume is required and must be included
- A completed Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) must be submitted with your STD. 678 in order to be considered for this position
