TAX TECHNICIAN I, BOARD OF EQUALIZATION

The California Department of Tax and Fee Administration (CDTFA) is dedicated to efficiently collecting revenue that supports essential public services. The Tax Technician I role involves performing technical duties and support functions related to tax programs, including account maintenance and taxpayer communication.

Responsibilities

• Performing account maintenance
• Initiating contact with taxpayers
• Accessing and reviewing taxpayer information
• Processing lien release invoices
• Managing incoming and outgoing mail
• Prioritizing and distributing all correspondence
• Managing initial case intake and assignment control reviews

Skills

• Under the close supervision of the Business Tax Administrator (BTA) I, the Tax Technician (TT) I performs the less difficult and complex technical duties and support functions for the unit
• This may include, but is not limited to, applying laws, rules, and policies relating to the California Department of Tax and Fee Administration's (CDTFA) programs
• Performing account maintenance
• Initiating contact with taxpayers
• Accessing and reviewing taxpayer information
• Processing lien release invoices
• Managing incoming and outgoing mail, which may include handling sensitive and confidential information, including that from other agencies
• Prioritizing and distributing all correspondence
• Managing initial case intake and assignment control reviews
• Travel may be required for up to five percent (5%) of the time for training purposes
