Technician, Exploration Lab Facility

As a Technician for Newmont’s Geochemistry Lab Facility, you will ensure the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of lab buildings and equipment, directly supporting geochemical analysis that informs exploration and production decisions.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily warehouse and facility operations including receiving, inventory tracking, and outbound shipping
- Partner with facilities management to maintain building safety, security, and general facilities upkeep; coordinate with contractors for repairs or maintenance needed
- Manage domestic and international shipments of geochemical samples, equipment, and hazardous materials including documentation, customs, and regulatory compliance
- Serve as the site safety lead, ensuring OSHA and company compliance, hazard identification, and safety training for all staff and visitors
- Perform regular safety inspections for facility and warehouse equipment such as air compressors, forklift, and industrial ovens
- Identify potential safety hazards and implement risk-mitigation strategies
- Stay informed of regulatory updates impacting safety, shipping, and facility operations
- Maintain organized storage areas and ensure proper labeling, handling, and chain of custody for samples and equipment
- Support office operations with basic administrative tasks as needed including, but not limited to, vendor performance reporting, contract status, and recordkeeping
Skills
- High school diploma or GED
- Working knowledge of OSHA regulations or safety officer experience
- Experience with domestic and international shipping, including customs and export documentation
- Comfortable with physical requirements: prolonged standing, push/pull/lift up to 50 lbs
- Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office suite)
- Ability to adapt to changing business and stakeholder needs
- Strong written/verbal communication and organizational skills
- Strong self-awareness, collaboration, and teamwork skills
- Experience in warehouse operations, logistics, shipping/receiving, or facilities coordination (laboratory or manufacturing preferred)
- Forklift certification/experience or willing to obtain while in the role
- Basic understanding of budgets or purchase tracking
