Software Infrastructure Intern

Zoox is developing the first ground-up, fully autonomous vehicle fleet and the supporting ecosystem required to bring this technology to market. The Software Infrastructure Intern will work on the Developer Experience team, focusing on building AI Agents and workflows that enhance the developer and customer experience, while applying LLMs to solve real-world problems.

Responsibilities

• Build AI Agents and AI Workflows that enhance how developers and customers experience Zoox
• Apply LLMs to solve real problems that slow teams down or limit product quality
• Focus on reducing the time it takes developers to ship features
• Accelerate the triage of real-world incidents
• Improve the quality and consistency of multimodal datasets
• Design AI Agents that automate common engineering workflows end to end

Skills

• Currently working towards a B.S., M.S., or advanced degree in a relevant engineering program
• Must be returning to school to continue your education upon completing this internship
• Good academic standing
• Able to commit to a 12-week internship beginning in May or June of 2026
• At least one previous industry internship, co-op, or project completed in a relevant area
• Ability to relocate to the Bay Area, California for the duration of the internship
• Proficiency in Python or C++
• Coursework or project experience in software development, demonstrating understanding of data structures and algorithms
• Familiarity with LLMs through coursework, personal projects, or hackathons
• Experience with prompt engineering or LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, AWS Bedrock)
• Contributions to open-source projects
• Experience with vector databases or embedding models
• Familiarity with developer tools (IDEs, debuggers, build systems)
