About the Role As our National Sales Director - Food Broker for Costco Wholesale, you will play a pivotal role in driving new business opportunities, expanding our existing vendor relationships, and identifying emerging market trends. This is a high-visibility position that requires a unique blend of sales acumen, industry expertise, and interpersonal skills. You will work closely with our sales team, vendors, and Costco buyers to develop and execute strategic sales plans that drive growth and revenue. Key Responsibilities Drive Business Growth: Focus on identifying new market trends and customer needs while increasing the value of current vendors. Build and Maintain Relationships: Establish rapport and cultivate relationships with Costco buyers, current vendors, and potential new vendors. Develop Strategic Sales Plans: Create growth strategies that address both vendor and Costco needs, working closely with internal teams and vendors. Stay Ahead of the Competition: Monitor market trends, pricing, and new products to ensure our vendors remain competitive. Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with sales support, vendors, and other departments to ensure seamless execution and customer satisfaction. Communicate Effectively: Demonstrate exceptional verbal and written communication skills, serving as a liaison between vendors, Costco buyers, and internal teams. Manage and Maintain Existing Business: Ensure current business is managed and maintained, and vendors are updated throughout the sales and post-sales process. Proactively Solve Issues: Assist the sales support team in resolving allocation and delivery issues, and collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate PO's, on-time shipping, and sample tracking. Essential Qualifications To succeed in this role, you will need: 5+ Years of Sales or Buying Experience: A proven track record in sales or buying, preferably in the food brokerage or wholesale club channel. Experience Selling to Costco or Wholesale Club Channel: A deep understanding of Costco's business model, buyer needs, and market trends. Strong Proficiency in MS Office: Particularly Excel, with the ability to analyze data and drive business decisions. Retail Math and Financial Metrics: A solid understanding of retail math and financial metrics, with the ability to analyze and interpret data. Excellent Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with vendors, Costco buyers, and internal teams. Product and Category Knowledge: A deep understanding of the food industry, including product trends and category management. Ability to Work Cooperatively: A collaborative mindset, with the ability to work effectively with employees, vendors, and cross-functional teams. Ability to Adapt to Shifting Priorities: A flexible and adaptable approach, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. 25-50% Travel Required: Willingness to travel to meet with Costco buyers, vendors, and internal teams. Preferred Qualifications Brokerage Experience: 5+ years of experience in the brokerage industry, with a deep understanding of the food brokerage landscape. Costco/Wholesale Experience: 5+ years of experience selling to Costco or the wholesale club channel, with a proven track record of success. Willingness to Travel: 50% travel required, with the ability to adapt to changing travel requirements.
