Pharmacy Technician-Appeals
About the position
We are seeking a dedicated Pharmacy Technician to join our Appeals department. In this role, you will work primarily with Medicare patients, handling denied Prior Authorizations. You will review provided information, reach out for additional details if necessary, and then send the case to Pharmacists for a final determination. This position involves making approximately 60 outbound calls per shift to Medicare/elderly members who are often frustrated due to medication denials, mostly for injectable medications administered in a doctor's office.
Responsibilities
• Review denied Prior Authorizations for Medicare patients
• Reach out for additional information as needed
• Send cases to Pharmacists for final determination
• Make approximately 60 outbound calls per shift to Medicare/elderly members
• Handle calls with frustrated members professionally and empathetically
• Control conversations and redirect as needed
Requirements
• Must have a minimum of High School Diploma or GED
• Must hold an active Pharmacy Technician license as required by state of operation
• Experience in retail pharmacy, hospital, or specialty pharmacy environments
• Must be able to type 40 WPM
