International Tax Expert (U.S. CPA) – Independent Contractor

Agroup Consulting is an international advisory firm specializing in cross-border taxation, immigration, and business structuring. We operate across the U.S., Europe, and Latin America, assisting expats, high-net-worth individuals, entrepreneurs, and globally mobile families with premium consulting services. We currently serve around 10 annual clients and are expanding our U.S. tax compliance operations. We are looking for an experienced U.S. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with strong expertise in international taxation for U.S. expats. You will collaborate remotely with Agroup’s internal teams in Spain, Panama, and Germany, providing U.S. tax compliance and strategic planning services for cross-border clients. All communication with clients will be coordinated through Agroup Consulting’s official channels. This is not a subcontracting or firm-to-firm collaboration; we are looking for an individual professional providing services as an independent contractor. Key Responsibilities Prepare and review U.S. tax returns (Form 1040, 1116, 2555, etc.) for Americans living abroad. Advise on Foreign Earned Income Exclusion (FEIE), Foreign Tax Credits (FTC), and treaty-based positions. Handle FBAR (FinCEN 114), FATCA (Form 8938), and related compliance filings. Coordinate with Agroup’s international advisors to align U.S. and foreign tax obligations. Provide strategic tax planning for clients with income or assets in multiple jurisdictions. Communicate clearly and professionally in English with expatriate clients. Requirements Active U.S. CPA license (we will verify credentials). Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Taxation. 5+ years of experience handling U.S. international tax compliance for expats. Proven knowledge of FEIE, FTC, FBAR, FATCA, and treaty applications. Familiarity with IRS international programs (e.g., Streamlined Filing Procedures). Experience with high-net-worth individuals and globally mobile clients.
