Job Overview

The Retail Customer Service Associate is a critical role at blithequark, responsible for consistently delivering a positive customer experience to all customers. This customer-focused team member will utilize consultative skills to anticipate customer needs, suggest alternatives, and provide solutions. The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable in all areas of the Store’s business, including print, signs & graphics, and shipping. They will be responsible for taking orders, coordinating activities in the Store, providing pricing and product information, and recommending appropriate blithequark products and services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver exceptional customer service, utilizing consultative skills to understand each customer’s individualized needs
  • Provide expert knowledge in printing, signs and graphics, and shipping product lines, recommending appropriate blithequark products and services
  • Take complex customer orders using order systems and provide accurate pricing information
  • Assemble parcels and prepare goods for shipping, ensuring timely and efficient delivery
  • Set up and operate printing, binding, and other related equipment, using customer-supplied original media and documents
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly retail Store, adhering to blithequark’s high standards
  • Process financial transactions using a Point of Sale terminal (POS), including handling cash and making change
  • Clean, repair, and stock all retail store printing and shipping equipment and supplies, ensuring optimal performance and availability
  • Stay current on retail Store merchandising materials, ensuring proper display of all retail area product and signage
  • Takes preemptive action to prevent errors and waste, driving sales growth and profitability

Essential Qualifications and Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • High school diploma or equivalent education
  • 6+ months of specialized experience in a retail or customer-facing environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with customers, vendors, and other team members
  • Ability to stand during entire shift, excluding meal and rest periods, and move and lift 55 pounds
  • Ability to bend/twist at the waist and knees, and perform work activities requiring cooperation and instruction
  • Ability to function in a fast-paced environment, under substantial pressure, and maintain attention and concentration for extended periods
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, reporting regularly to work and maintaining established business hours

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following qualifications are preferred:

  • Previous experience in a retail or customer-facing environment, with a focus on delivering exceptional customer service
  • Knowledge of printing, signs and graphics, and shipping product lines, with the ability to recommend appropriate blithequark products and services
  • Experience with Point of Sale terminals (POS) and financial transactions
  • Ability to operate and maintain a wide variety of equipment, including printing, binding, and other related equipment
