TITLE: Remote Business Analyst jobs – Senior Business Systems Analyst (Full‑Time) – Idaho Falls, Idaho – $85k‑$110k – Agile, SQL, Tableau, Power BI, JIRA --- #### About the team We’re a 45‑person product studio headquartered in Austin, Texas, but we’ve been hiring across the United States for three years now. Our analytics & operations squad sits in a virtual “room” of eight full‑time Business Analysts, two senior data engineers, and a product owner. Together we support a portfolio of three SaaS platforms that collectively serve more than 250 k active users and generate $32 M in ARR. The team is accountable for turning vague stakeholder requests into clear, testable requirements, tracking delivery against a 48‑hour SLA, and keeping the product roadmap on schedule for two quarterly releases each year. In the last twelve months we cut requirements‑to‑release lead time by 22 % (from 10 weeks to 7.8 weeks) and increased stakeholder satisfaction scores from 78 % to 87 % on our quarterly pulse survey. #### Why this role exists now Our newest product line – a data‑integration hub for midsize manufacturers – entered beta last quarter and the demand for custom workflows has exploded. The product manager team tells us they need a dedicated analyst who can bridge the gap between the engineering squad and our growing base of field‑service consultants in Idaho Falls, Idaho and beyond. In short: we need a senior Business Analyst who can own the end‑to‑end requirements lifecycle, mentor the junior analysts, and help scale our discovery process as we add two more product lines in the next six months. #### What you’ll do (day‑to‑day) * **Gather & translate** – Run 1‑hour discovery workshops with product owners, sales engineers, and customers in Idaho Falls, Idaho to surface pain points. Capture functional and non‑functional requirements using JIRA Epics, Confluence pages, and Lucidchart process maps. * **Document & validate** – Produce detailed BRDs, user stories, acceptance criteria, and data‑flow diagrams. Run walkthroughs with the engineering team (Azure DevOps, Git) and obtain sign‑off from at least three key stakeholders before each sprint. * **Prioritize & plan** – Own the backlog for two product streams, using MoSCoW and WSJF scoring. Work with the product owner to ensure the quarterly roadmap reflects realistic capacity (average capacity = 1,800 story points per release). * **Test & verify** – Collaborate with QA leads to develop test plans in TestRail, run UAT sessions with end‑users, and verify that the delivered feature meets the documented acceptance criteria. * **Report & improve** – Build monthly KPI dashboards in Power BI and Tableau that show requirement churn, defect leakage, and delivery lead‑time. Present insights during the monthly Ops Review to senior leadership. * **Mentor & coach** – Pair with two junior analysts for on‑the‑job training on data‑modeling, stakeholder management, and Agile ceremonies. Run a quarterly “BA best‑practice” lunch‑and‑learn that has grown from 5 participants to 23 in the last year. * **Govern & compliance** – Ensure all artifacts meet our internal ISO‑27001 controls and support external audits (e.g., SOC 2). #### Who you are (the “you” part) * **Experience** – Minimum 5 years of hands‑on business analysis work in a SaaS or enterprise software environment; at least 2 years leading a small analyst team. * **Technical chops** – Comfortable writing SQL queries (SQL Server, PostgreSQL) and extracting data for analysis. You should have built at least three dashboards in Power BI or Tableau. Familiarity with REST APIs, JSON, and data‑modeling concepts is a plus. * **Methodology** – Proven track record with Agile (Scrum or Kanban) and experience with SAFe or LeSS scaling frameworks. You’ll be comfortable sitting in sprint planning, daily stand‑ups, and retrospectives. * **Communication** – Able to translate technical jargon into business language for stakeholders in Idaho Falls, Idaho and remote partners alike. Strong written documentation skills; you’ve written BRDs, user stories, and process flows that survive multiple revisions. * **Problem‑solving** – You can spot a requirement gap before it hits a sprint and propose a concrete mitigation plan. Past examples include reducing requirement rework by 30 % on a major release. * **Toolset** – Daily use of JIRA, Confluence, Excel (advanced formulas & Power Query), Visio or Lucidchart, Slack, Microsoft Teams, Azure DevOps, and a version‑control system (Git). Familiarity with BPMN notation is a bonus. #### Tools & tech stack (a quick snapshot) * **Project Management:** JIRA, Azure DevOps, Confluence, Trello (occasionally) * **Data Visualization:** Tableau, Power BI, Looker (beta) * **Databases:** SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Snowflake (read‑only) * **Reporting:** Excel (Power Query, Power Pivot), Google Data Studio * **Collaboration:** Slack, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Miro (for remote workshops) * **Documentation:** Visio, Lucidchart, Markdown, Google Docs * **Testing:** TestRail, Postman (API verification) * **Version Control:** Git, GitHub Enterprise #### What success looks like (first 90 days) | Metric | Target | Why it matters | |--------|--------|----------------| | Requirement clarity score (post‑sign‑off survey) | ≥ 90 % | Reduces re‑work and accelerates delivery | | Average time from request to signed BRD | ≤ 5 business days | Keeps us inside our 48‑hour SLA for discovery | | Backlog health (≤ 15 % overdue items) | ≤ 15 % | Prevents bottlenecks before each sprint | | Stakeholder NPS (product owners in Idaho Falls, Idaho) | ≥ 8 | Indicates trust and partnership quality | | Mentorship hours logged | ≥ 20 hrs | Builds bench strength for future hires | #### “Human moment” > *“I still remember my first remote workshop with a client in Idaho Falls. Their coffee was still steaming when we wrapped up, and they said the visual map we created in Lucidchart helped them finally see where the bottleneck lived. A few weeks later they sent a picture of the new workflow on their office wall. It felt like I’d just helped them solve a puzzle they’d been stuck on for months.”* – Sarah L., Senior Business Analyst, 2‑year tenure #### Why you'll love working with us * **True remote flexibility** – You can work from anywhere in the United States, but we maintain a core “virtual office” hour from 10 am‑12 pm Central to ensure real‑time collaboration with teammates in Idaho Falls, Idaho and the rest of the team. * **Growth budget** – $2 k annual stipend for conferences, certifications (e.g., CBAP, PMI‑PBA), or online courses. We’ve funded our analysts’ trips to the International Institute of Business Analysis conference for the past three years. * **Transparent compensation** – Salary range $85 k‑$110 k, plus a quarterly performance bonus up to 12 % of base salary. Benefits include 100 % employer‑paid health premiums, 401(k) match up to 5 %, generous PTO (20 days + company holidays). * **Culture of candor** – We run a monthly “Ask Me Anything” with the CEO, and a quarterly “Values in Action” session where any employee can share a story of how they lived our core principle of “deliver the right thing, at the right time.” #### How we hire Our process is short, transparent, and focused on fit: 1. **Screening call (30 min)** – A quick chat with the hiring manager to confirm basics: location, salary expectations, and work‑style preferences. 2. **Technical interview (60 min)** – A senior analyst walks you through a realistic case study: you’ll be asked to elicit requirements from a mock stakeholder, create a user story, and draft a simple data‑flow diagram. 3. **Team interview (45 min)** – Meet the rest of the analyst squad and product owner. Expect a mix of behavioral questions and a brief “show‑and‑tell” of a past deliverable you’re proud of. 4. **Leadership interview (30 min)** – Conversation with the VP of Product to discuss strategic impact, career aspirations, and how you could influence the roadmap. 5. **Offer** – If everything aligns, you’ll receive an offer within 5 business days of the final interview. We value honesty: if at any point you feel the role isn’t the right fit, let us know. We’ll do the same for you. #### Application instructions * Submit your resume and a one‑page “impact story” that highlights a business analysis project where you reduced cycle time, improved data quality, or delivered measurable ROI. * Include a short paragraph (150 words max) describing why you’re excited about joining a remote‑first team that is scaling its product portfolio in Idaho Falls, Idaho. We’ll review each application within 48 hours and get back to you with next steps. --- **We’re looking for a partner, not just a processor.** If you thrive on turning ambiguous business problems into clear, actionable solutions, enjoy collaborating with engineers and product owners across time zones, and can mentor junior colleagues while keeping an eye on the big picture, we want to hear from you.
