I am seeking an experienced professional proofreader for a 40,000-word nonfiction / self-help book focused on career development and modern job search strategy.
The manuscript:
Has been professionally copy edited
Has been pre-cleaned using professional proofreading software
Will be fully finalized before proofreading begins
This is a final proofreading pass only — not copy editing or developmental editing.
Scope of Work (Proofreading Only)
The proofreader will complete a final, publication-ready proofread, including:
Spelling, grammar, and punctuation corrections
Typographical error detection
Consistency checks (capitalization, spacing, usage)
Minor formatting issues (headings, spacing, page breaks)
This project does not include rewriting, rephrasing, stylistic edits, or structural changes.
Deliverables:
One fully proofread manuscript returned in Microsoft Word (.docx) format
All corrections applied using Track Changes
Final file suitable for immediate production or formatting
Schedule & Availability:
Project will begin immediately following completion of copy editing
Faster-than-average turnaround preferred for candidates with current availability
Estimated turnaround: 5–7 days (faster is a plus)
Ideal Candidate:
Proven experience proofreading books (nonfiction preferred)
Excellent attention to detail
Strong command of U.S. English
Comfortable working in Microsoft Word with Track Changes
