Cost Accountant/Controller

The Cost Accountant/Controller supports the financial operations of NHI Commercial by managing day-to-day accounting tasks, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring efficient handling of accounts payable, receivables, payroll, and inventory. This role plays a key part in keeping projects financially organized, supporting job cost tracking, and maintaining compliance with company policies and accounting standards. Key Responsibilities: • Oversee the company’s accounting operations and financial health, including financial reporting, budgeting and risk management • Record daily financial transactions and maintain accurate ledgers • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable, including invoice entry, payment posting and reconciliations • Reconcile bank and credit card statements monthly • Oversee inventory control, including monitoring material usage, tracking stock levels and reconciling physical counts • Prepare journal entries and maintain general ledger accuracy • Track and reconcile job costs, materials and project related expenses • Support audits and other financial projects as needed Qualifications: • Associate’s or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field preferred • 4+ years of cost accounting/controller experience, preferably in the construction industry • Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks) • Excellent written, verbal, and telephonic communication • Familiarity with job cost accounting and project billing methods • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office tools • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy • Strong organizational and time-management skills • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information Salary Range: $60,000 - $70,000 annually, depending on qualifications and experience Work Arrangement: This role is fully on-site at our Lansing office. Remote work is not permitted due to the hands-on nature of the position and the need for close coordination with project and accounting teams.
