About the Role: The DC Government Power BI Applications Architect Lead is responsible for designing, developing, and overseeing the implementation of advanced Power BI solutions that drive data-driven decision-making across the organization. This role leads the architecture and integration of Power BI applications, ensuring they align with business objectives and technical standards. The lead will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to translate complex data requirements into scalable and efficient BI solutions. Additionally, this position involves mentoring and guiding a team of BI developers and analysts to maintain high-quality deliverables and promote best practices. Ultimately, the role ensures that Power BI applications provide actionable insights that enhance operational efficiency and strategic planning. Minimum Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field. • Extensive experience (5+ years) in Power BI development and architecture. • Strong proficiency in DAX, Power Query (M), and data modeling techniques. • Proven experience leading BI projects and managing development teams. • Solid understanding of database technologies such as SQL Server and data warehousing concepts. Preferred Qualifications: • Master’s degree in a related field or relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate or Power BI Expert. • Experience with Azure Data Services and cloud-based BI solutions. • Familiarity with other BI tools and programming languages such as Python or R for data analysis. • Knowledge of advanced analytics, machine learning integration, and AI-driven BI enhancements. • Experience working in large, complex organizational environments or public sector entities. Responsibilities: • Lead the design and architecture of Power BI solutions, including data modeling, report development, and dashboard creation. • Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications. • Oversee the development, testing, and deployment of Power BI reports and dashboards to ensure accuracy and performance. • Manage and mentor a team of BI developers and analysts, fostering skill development and adherence to best practices. • Ensure data governance, security, and compliance standards are maintained within all Power BI applications. • Continuously evaluate and implement new Power BI features and industry best practices to improve BI capabilities. • Coordinate with IT and data engineering teams to integrate Power BI solutions with existing data infrastructure. Skills: The required skills such as expertise in Power BI, DAX, and data modeling are applied daily to design and build robust, scalable BI solutions that meet business needs. Leadership and project management skills are essential for guiding teams and ensuring timely delivery of high-quality reports and dashboards. Strong communication skills facilitate effective collaboration with stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions. Preferred skills like cloud platform knowledge and advanced analytics enable the architect to innovate and enhance BI capabilities beyond traditional reporting.
