Position : Google Cloud Platform Application Architect Location: Remote Duration: 1 year with probable Extension SUMMARY: Responsible for performing comprehensive architecture reviews of legacy and current applications to determine their readiness for migration to Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform). This role will work closely with internal application teams, Google partners, and other stakeholders to facilitate a smooth transition to native Google Cloud Platform services, focusing on re-platforming and modernization. PRIMARY DUTIES: • Conduct deep-dive technical assessments of applications, including those lacking clear documentation or ownership, such as legacy systems. • Reverse engineer legacy applications to understand operational dependencies and migration challenges. • Collaborate with application teams to answer technical questionnaires and provide migration-related insights to Google. • Identify applications that may present migration challenges and develop strategies for replatforming to native Google Cloud Platform (GCE, avoiding ESX/VMware). • Partner with Google and internal teams throughout the migration process, serving as a technical advisor and problem solver. • Document findings, recommendations, and migration plans for each application reviewed. • Support ongoing architecture reviews as new applications are identified for migration. COMPETENCY: Required • Experience with Google Compute Engine (GCE) and related Google Cloud Platform services. • Proven experience in application architecture review and cloud migration, preferably with Google Cloud Platform. • Strong understanding of cloud-native technologies, virtualization, and re-platforming strategies. • Ability to work with legacy systems and incomplete documentation. • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills. • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams and external partners. Preferred • Familiarity with legacy security applications • Prior experience in large-scale migration projects. REQUIRED EDUCATION: None EXPERIENCE: • 8+years • Strong organizational skills • Excellent analytical skills • Excellent documentation skills; demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and PowerPoint • Collaborative team worker both in person and virtually using MS Teams or similar • Ability to work as liaison between business and information security / information technology • Flexibility to accommodate working across different time zones • Excellent interpersonal communication skills with strong spoken and written English • Business outcomes mindset • Solid balance of strategic thinking with detail orientation • Self-starter, ability to take initiative Regards, Alex .
