Head of Privacy

About the position Responsibilities • Lead and evolve our privacy program, including operationalizing privacy by design and default. • Guide the company to ensure compliance with and manage risk under privacy, data security, and AI regulatory frameworks (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, EU AI Act, U.S. state AI laws). • Partner with our Data and Cybersecurity team leaders to manage and enhance our data governance program. • Support privacy-related litigation and manage our response to data subject requests, privacy incidents, and regulatory inquiries. • Conduct risk assessments related to data processing and lead incident response protocols related to data breach or privacy incidents. • Report to our General Counsel & Head of Global Affairs and serve as a member of Grindr's leadership team. • Manage and mentor a lean privacy team while also contributing directly to day-to-day privacy work. • Represent Grindr externally and drive internal company-wide education and awareness efforts on privacy and AI topics. Requirements • 10+ years of relevant experience, including as a Chief Privacy Officer, Deputy CPO, or senior privacy counsel. • Significant experience counseling on privacy and data protection at a product-driven technology company serving at least millions of users. • Deep knowledge of global privacy laws and emerging AI regulations, including familiarity with the legal landscape around algorithmic transparency and automated decision-making. • Excellent judgment, communication skills, and ability to provide clear, pragmatic guidance in ambiguous or fast-moving situations. • Comfortable leading strategy and contributing hands-on execution in a fast-moving, dynamic, high-performing environment. • JD or equivalent legal degree strongly preferred.
