Financial Lines Complex Claims Analyst - Employment Practices Liability
About the position
Responsibilities
• Timely and thoroughly investigating claims.
• Evaluating claims that involve complex liability issues on primary and excess EPL claims.
• Analyzing coverage and timely addressing coverage issues.
• Timely and accurately determining appropriate reserving levels.
• Selecting and directing independent external service providers (e.g., Lawyers, Independent Adjusters, Experts).
• Negotiating and resolving complex EPL claims ensuring cost effective, service-orientated solutions, within granted autonomy limits.
• Ensuring all claims handled within authority limits, and in line with AzC Claims complex procedures and guidelines.
• Referring cases outside of authority level, preparing referral documentation and materials as appropriate.
• Supporting establishment of claims management procedures on new business accounts in association with clients, brokers and loss adjusters.
• Proactively supporting the acquisition of new business and retention of existing business, including liaising with underwriters on market management initiatives and attending industry functions.
• Positively representing AzC externally to the market and developing and maintaining relationships with brokers and clients, as well as other relevant stakeholders (e.g., third party adjusters).
• Proactively driving involvement of functional areas in the Claims handling process (e.g., Underwriting, Operations) and effectively reporting and presenting complex and contentious loss and claims information internally and externally.
• Timely inputting and maintaining accurate claims records for designated accounts, within appropriate AzC Claims administration systems, managing timely production of management information reports and proactively identify loss trends.
Requirements
• 5 - 7 years' experience in proven track record in handling EPL claims involving complex coverage and liability issues.
• Demonstrate established relationships with brokers at peer group level and well established within local market.
• Expert understanding of EPL products and portfolio, including coverage and application in the adjustment process and detailed understanding of wordings, terms and conditions and coverages.
• In-depth understanding of regional/local insurance markets and competitor landscape.
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
• Ability to 'sell' claim service abilities as a marketing tool.
• Solid knowledge of claim handling process from notification to settlement and recovery, including diary management skills.
• Ability to utilize AI tools to support day-to-day tasks, improve efficiency and contribute to data-driven decision making.
• Juris Doctor degree preferred.
