BSA/AML/CFT Investigator
Job Description:
• Monitor & Analyze Transactions: Review member activities to ensure they align with policies and regulations, identifying anything that looks out of place.
• Investigate & Report: Conduct thorough investigations into potential suspicious activity and prepare detailed reports for SAR filings within required deadlines.
• Gather Evidence: Collect and organize supporting documentation—such as account statements, checks, and deposits—to substantiate your findings.
• Support Risk Management: Partner with the Due Diligence team to identify high-risk members, products, and services, and implement monitoring controls to mitigate money laundering risks.
• Guide & Educate: Provide clear guidance to business units on their responsibilities under BSA and the USA Patriot Act, helping them stay compliant.
• Audit Emerging Risks: Stay ahead of industry trends by assessing new business types and recommending controls to address evolving threats.
• Advise Leadership: Keep program leaders informed about changes in member behavior that could indicate money laundering or terrorist financing.
• Ensure Compliance: Implement new procedures promptly when laws or regulations change, maintaining strong due diligence programs.
• Collaborate with Law Enforcement: Respond to inquiries related to SAR filings or general BSA requests, ensuring timely and accurate support.
• Adapt & Contribute: Take on additional duties as needed, always with a focus on protecting our members and strengthening compliance.
Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent work/educational experience.
• Typically 5 years of BSA/AML, bank audit, compliance, or banking operations experience.
• Typically 3 years of experience in financial crime investigations.
• CAMS Certification (Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist), ACFCS Certification, or continuing education toward certification.
• Solid understanding of BSA/AML/CFT/OFAC regulations and practical application.
• Organizational, analytical, and investigative skills.
• Ability to solve complex problems and identify broad solutions.
• Skills in interviewing, interrogation, leadership, and negotiation.
• Full-time availability with flexibility for additional hours as needed.
