Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract VocoVision is expanding our Kentucky special education team and seeking an experienced special educator to provide virtual instruction to students with disabilities. This remote position combines the flexibility of working from home with the rewarding work of helping students overcome learning challenges and achieve their educational goals. Our platform enables special education teachers to deliver individualized, standards-based instruction while managing IEPs and collaborating with educational teams across the state. Special education teaching in a virtual environment requires adaptability, strong technical skills, and unwavering commitment to student success. You'll work with students who have diverse learning needs, creating a supportive online classroom where they can learn at their own pace with instruction tailored to their specific goals and abilities. Your role encompasses all aspects of special education service deliveryfrom assessment and IEP development to daily instruction and family communication. Position Details This is a full-time virtual teaching position requiring 35-37.5 hours per week. You'll serve 40-50 students across multiple grade levels, potentially spanning elementary through high school. Your caseload may include students with learning disabilities requiring specialized reading or math instruction, students with autism needing structured teaching and social skills support, students with intellectual disabilities working on functional academics and life skills, and students with emotional/behavioral needs requiring behavior intervention and counseling support. Your schedule will include direct instruction blocks where you teach individuals or small groups, planning periods for developing lessons and materials, IEP meetings and parent conferences, progress monitoring and data collection activities, collaboration time with general education teachers and related service providers, and completion of required documentation and paperwork. The virtual format allows for flexible scheduling while ensuring students receive their required minutes of specialized instruction. Teaching Responsibilities and Duties Design and implement standards-based lessons modified to meet individual student needs and IEP goals. Use diagnostic assessment to identify skill gaps and target instruction effectively. Teach foundational skills in reading, writing, mathematics, and other academic areas using evidence-based special education methodologies. Provide explicit, systematic instruction with appropriate scaffolding and support. Utilize assistive technology and digital tools to enhance learning and accessibility. Create visual supports, graphic organizers, and modified materials to support comprehension. Implement behavior management strategies and positive behavior supports. Monitor student engagement and participation during virtual lessons. Collect data on student progress toward IEP goals and objectives. Adjust instructional strategies based on student response and progress monitoring data. Write comprehensive IEPs with measurable goals and appropriate accommodations. Participate actively in IEP team meetings and eligibility discussions. Maintain regular contact with parents through emails, calls, and virtual meetings. Provide families with resources and strategies to support learning at home. Collaborate with general education teachers on inclusive practices and accommodations. Consult with related service providers to coordinate services and supports. Complete all required documentation accurately and within established deadlines. Candidate Requirements Kentucky teaching certification in Special Education must be current and in good standing. Master's degree in Special Education or directly related field is required. Minimum two years of experience teaching special education in elementary, middle, or high school settings. Thorough understanding of IDEA regulations, special education processes, and IEP development. Knowledge of evidence-based practices for various disability categories. Experience with curriculum adaptation and instructional modification. Proficiency with virtual teaching platforms, learning management systems, and educational technology. Strong organizational skills to manage multiple IEPs and student schedules. Excellent written and verbal communication for professional documentation and family collaboration. Ability to work independently while maintaining regular contact with team members. High-speed internet access and appropriate home office setup for virtual teaching.
