Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Scientist to join our team at blithequark. As a Senior Data Scientist, you will be responsible for applying advanced data science, predictive analytics, and machine learning techniques to provide insights and actionable recommendations that drive business growth and development. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including finance, research, software development, and business leadership, to define product requirements, provide analytical support, and communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build models and tools using technical expertise in machine learning, statistical modeling, risk and decision theory, and other quantitative methods, innovating by adapting to new modeling techniques and procedures.
  • Understand the business context behind large datasets and develop meaningful analytic solutions.
  • Apply analytical rigor and statistical techniques to analyze large quantities of data, using advanced statistical methods, including predictive statistical models, customer profiling, segmentation analysis, survey design, analysis, and data mining.
  • Program using tech stack Python, PySpark, Matplotlib, TensorFlow, PyTorch, etc.
  • Perform machine learning techniques, including supervised and unsupervised algorithms, to build predictive models and prescriptive solutions that support various business use cases.
  • Build algorithms, such as decision trees, regression, XGBoost, K-means, and anomaly detection, and interpret machine learning results using techniques like Interpretable ML and Bayesian theory.
  • Utilize Cloud Computing on Azure/Databricks, querying in Snowflake, and leverage software tools and methodologies like GitHub, Continuous Integration and Delivery, and Agile methodologies.
  • Collaborate with finance, researchers, software developers, and business leaders to define product requirements and provide analytical support.
  • Communicate verbally and in writing to business clients and management teams with varying levels of technical expertise, educating them about our systems and sharing insights and recommendations.

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 4 years of experience in data science, machine learning, quantitative, or computational fields, or High School/GED and a minimum of 7 years of experience in these fields.
  • M.S. in STEM, Computer Science, Data Systems, Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Machine Learning, or similar.
  • At least 4 years of experience working with large-scale, complex datasets to create/optimize machine learning, predictive, forecasting, and/or optimization models.
  • Advanced experience in SQL, Python, PySpark, or other languages.
  • Advanced degree skill in exploratory data analysis, feature engineering, and selection, detecting patterns, learning distributions, visualizing results, and extracting insights to support businesses in making informed data-driven decisions.
  • Experience with supervised learning techniques, including linear and logistic regression, time series modeling, generalized linear models, decision trees, support vector machines, etc., and unsupervised learning techniques, including K-means, hierarchical clustering, association rules, and principal components.
  • Experience with Cloud ML systems, distributed computing, data pipelines, cloud data stores, and serving engines.
  • Experience designing and analyzing A/B experiments.
  • Advanced degree skill in conveying rigorous technical standards and issues to non-experts.
  • Experience working in dynamic environments, operating with ambiguity, prioritizing needs, and delivering results.
  • Experience effectively communicating technical solutions and advocating to research scientists, engineering teams, and business audiences.
  • At least 2 years of experience contributing to financial decisions in the workplace.
  • At least 2 years of direct management, indirect management, and/or cross-functional team management.
  • Willingness to travel up to a minimum of 10% of the time for business purposes (domestic and international).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in STEM, Computer Science, Data Systems, Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Machine Learning, or similar.
  • Experience working with IoT and Edge AI is a plus.
  • Experience in Reinforcement Learning is a plus.
  • Experience in Healthcare is a plus.
