Job Overview

As a Data Entry Specialist at blithequark, you will play a critical role in supporting both internal users and external customers, providing technology support for our Billing Platform, and ensuring the business needs and performance requirements of the application are met. Your primary focus will be on data entry and filing Surplus Lines taxes, working closely with our team to ensure compliance and accuracy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Generate and review weekly insurance payables reports to identify policies that require filings, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
  • Interface with Broker Assistants and Brokers to obtain necessary information or forms for state compliance, following up as needed and providing Surplus Lines record numbers and/or countersignatures.
  • Ensure Surplus Lines taxes and fees are entered correctly, and enter, file, and pay taxes with each state entity according to their requirements.
  • Obtain Surplus Lines Broker signatures and notary signatures, and provide all documentation to accounting assistants for check or ACH issuance for payment of taxes to the states.
  • Provide information to accounting leaders for reconciliation purposes, and maintain the PSR Surplus Lines tax intranet.
  • Generate various Excel reports, assist profit center personnel as necessary, and maintain electronic records of Surplus Lines tax filings and correspondence with state entities.
  • Gather information for regulatory audits, and perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with Outlook, Word, and Excel, with the ability to quickly learn new software applications.
  • Technical skills across a breadth of technologies, with the ability to interact with both business and technology teammates.

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, we prefer candidates with:

  • An Associate's degree in Accounting or a related field.
  • Previous experience in data entry, accounting, or a related field, with a strong understanding of Surplus Lines taxes and compliance.

  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to accurately enter and process large amounts of data.
