Job Overview

The Remote Data Entry Operator will play a critical role in entering information with a high degree of speed and accuracy into our customer information system and other software used by our Public Works department. This position requires the ability to work independently, exercise good judgment, and demonstrate personal initiative. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data entry, excellent typing skills, and the ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain utility accounts with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Verify account eligibility and accessibility to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Prepare, distribute, and complete work orders in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Prepare files for mass customer communications, ensuring all information is up-to-date and accurate.
  • Assist with mailing billing statements and other notices generated in-house, maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Scan or retain documents as required, following company protocols for document management.
  • Perform monthly audits of incomplete account transfer requests to identify areas for improvement.
  • Enter data into Key Performance Indicator tracking databases to support business decision-making.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and a willingness to adapt to changing priorities.

Essential Qualifications

To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following essential qualifications:

  • Education: High School Diploma or an acceptable equivalency diploma (GED).
  • Experience: Two (2) years of experience as a high-volume data entry operator or typist.
  • Licenses or Certifications: None specified.
  • Special Requirements: Must pass computer skills, typing and accuracy, and 10-key skills testing for consideration.

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following qualifications are preferred:

  • Education: Associate's degree in business administration, data entry, or related fields.
  • Experience: Two (2) years of experience as a high-volume data entry operator or typist, with a focus on customer service support.
  • Special Requirements: Must pass computer skills, typing and accuracy, and 10-key skills testing for consideration.
