Job Overview

As a Data Engineer at blithequark, you will be responsible for designing and implementing data products and features in collaboration with product owners, data analysts, and business partners. Your role will involve contributing to the overall architecture, frameworks, and standards for processing and evaluating big data. You will also be tasked with evaluating new technologies, tools, and frameworks aimed at processing large volumes of data. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in computer science, information technology, or computer information systems, and at least 2 years of experience in a related field.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement data products and features in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Contribute to the overall architecture, frameworks, and standards for processing and evaluating big data.
  • Evaluate new technologies, tools, and frameworks aimed at processing large volumes of data.
  • Translate product backlog items into logical units of engineering work.
  • Implement distributed data processing pipelines using tools and languages prevalent in the big data ecosystem.
  • Build tools, user-defined functions, libraries, and frameworks to better enable data flow patterns.
  • Collaborate with engineering leads and other teams to ensure quality solutions are implemented and technical best practices are defined and followed.
  • Create and participate in automated unit tests and participate in integration tests.
  • Use and extend continuous integration and deployment frameworks.
  • Troubleshoot data issues and perform root cause analysis.
  • Work in teams to resolve operational and performance issues.

Essential Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Computer Information Systems, and at least 2 years of experience in a related field. The candidate should have a strong background in big data technologies, including Spark, Hive, Python, AWS, Apache Airflow, EMR, Data Bricks, Data Structures, and Algorithms.

Preferred Qualifications

In addition to the essential qualifications, the ideal candidate will have experience with automated unit testing, CI/CD, and creating data feeds. Experience with Hadoop and other big data technologies is also preferred.
