About the Role (Amazon Fresh Warehouse): Join the Amazon Fresh team as a Warehouse Shopper. We are hiring for our Seattle, WA location, the heart of Amazon's grocery innovation. This is an 'entry-level' role ('no experience' required) where you become a customer's personal shopper. You will be responsible for picking and packing high-quality fresh produce, groceries, and household goods for customer orders. This role is unique because you will be working in a 'cold storage' environment. Your New Career – The Role: As a Fresh Warehouse Shopper, your entire job is to fulfill customer grocery orders with perfect quality. You will use a handheld scanner that gives you a 'shopping list' and guides you through the warehouse aisles. You'll pick items (like produce, meat, and dairy) and 'pack-as-you-go' into grocery bags. A major part of this role is working in temperature-controlled zones, including a 'chilled' section (like a large refrigerator, around 34°F) and a 'frozen' section (around 0°F). You must be comfortable working in these cold environments for portions of your shift. This role is available for 'day shift', 'night shift', and 'weekend shift' schedules. The Training – Your Foundation for Success: 'No experience' is needed. Your paid, multi-day training will cover: * **Safety & Cold Storage:** You'll learn our safety procedures, with a special focus on working in 'cold storage' environments. Amazon provides all necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including freezer coats, gloves, and hats. * **Technology:** You'll master the handheld scanner, which you'll use to navigate aisles, find items, and scan them for accuracy. * **Food Quality:** You will be trained to be a quality expert. You'll learn how to pick the best produce, check expiration dates, and properly bag items (e.g., keeping raw meat separate, bagging fragile items like eggs correctly). * **Packing Process:** You'll learn our 'pack-as-you-go' system to build perfect customer orders, ready for delivery. A Day in the Life – What to Expect: Your 'workday' is fast-paced and focused on quality: * **Start of Shift:** You'll arrive for your 'day shift' (e.g., 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM), grab your scanner, and get your first customer order assignment. * **Picking (Ambient):** Your scanner will guide you through the 'ambient' (room temperature) aisles to pick items like canned goods, pasta, and paper towels, placing them in your assigned totes. * **Picking (Chilled/Frozen):** Your route will then direct you into the 'chilled' (refrigerator) zone to pick milk, cheese, and produce. You will then go into the 'frozen' zone to pick ice cream and frozen vegetables. You will be wearing your provided 'cold gear' during this time. You will move between zones throughout your shift. * **Packing & Staging:** Once your order is complete, you'll drop your totes at the staging area, where they are prepared for delivery drivers. * **Physical Demands:** You will be on your feet for your entire shift (walking and standing). You must be able to lift up to 49 lbs and be comfortable working in a 'cold storage' environment (34°F to 0°F) for parts of your shift. * **End of Shift:** You'll return your scanner and 'cold gear', and check out.
