Key Responsibilities

As a Professional Tutor with our organization, you will play a vital role in providing academic support to our members. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Teaching math and reading skills to members across various ability levels, adapting instruction to meet individual needs.
  • Coordinating academic tutorials, including individualized and group tutoring, tutor/mentor training, and academic skills workshops.
  • Planning lessons with clear goals and objectives, ensuring effective implementation of academic activities with students in one-on-one or small group settings.
  • Encouraging members to take an active role in their learning by reviewing progress against goals and facilitating positive study habits.
  • Collaborating with other staff members to support students' academic success and serving as a liaison between students and school staff.
  • Maintaining records of students' progress, assessment results, and providing feedback to ensure continuous improvement.

  • Communication: Informing important site information, listening to co-workers, parents, and members, and presenting relevant information to supervisors.
  • Supervision & Safety: Supervising up to 20 youth, maintaining a safe environment, and practicing crisis management and emergency preparedness.

Qualifications and Requirements

To be considered for this position, you must meet the following qualifications and requirements:

  • Age: At least 18 years old with valid identification.
  • Transportation: Reliable transportation, a valid driver's license, and the ability to travel to multiple Club locations as needed.
  • Availability: Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including potential overtime and Saturdays.
  • Certifications: CPR/First Aid Certification (in-person training, Adult, Child, Infant preferred) upon employment.
  • Background: Ability to pass a background check, TB, and drug test.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree or higher from an accredited college or university preferred.
  • Skills: Knowledge of tutoring practices, instructional aide qualification, enthusiasm for working with children, and excellent student interaction skills.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

This role requires:

  • Maintaining a high energy level and positive representation in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfort with performing multi-faceted projects and working in loud environments.
  • Ability to stand or sit for four plus hours per day, stoop, bend, climb, and walk frequently, and lift up to 40 pounds.
