Key Responsibilities

As a Behavior Technician with Key Autism Services, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Implementing ABA Therapy Programs: Work one-on-one with children with autism, implementing ABA therapy programs established by a BCBA, and collecting behavior and skill acquisition data during sessions
  • Conducting Discrete Trials: Implement behavior support and treatment plans, and conduct discrete trials to help children with autism develop new skills and behaviors
  • Collaborating with BCBAs: Work closely with BCBAs to implement basic principles and teaching procedures of ABA therapy, and to develop and implement individualized treatment plans
  • Providing Excellent Customer Service: Be responsive to the needs and requests of clients, their families, and supervisors, and maintain a high level of professionalism in all aspects of your work
  • Maintaining Accurate Records: Keep accurate and detailed records of client progress, including data collection and session notes

Essential Qualifications

To be successful as a Behavior Technician with Key Autism Services, you will need:

  • Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent: A bachelor's degree in a related field (such as psychology, education, or sociology) is preferred, but not required
  • Experience Working with Children: At least one year of experience working with children in a 1:1 setting, preferably in a special education or ABA therapy setting
  • ABA Experience: One year of experience working in ABA therapy is preferred, but not required - we provide comprehensive training and support to ensure your success
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with clients, families, and colleagues
  • Reliable Transportation: A reliable vehicle and a valid driver's license, with the ability to travel to client homes and other locations as needed

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following qualifications are preferred:

  • Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) Certification: Certification as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) is preferred, but not required - we provide training and support to help you obtain this certification
  • Experience Working in Special Education: Experience working in special education or a related field, with a strong understanding of ABA therapy principles and practices
  • Bilingual or Multilingual: Fluency in a language other than English, with the ability to communicate effectively with clients and families from diverse backgrounds

Physical Requirements

The physical demands of this role include:

  • Lifting and Carrying: The ability to lift up to 35 pounds, with frequent bending, kneeling, squatting, and standing
  • Fine and Gross Motor Skills: The ability to perform activities that require fine and gross motor skills, including sitting on the floor or in a chair, or standing for periods of time
  • Responding to Client Needs: The ability to respond quickly to client needs, including moving short distances (up to 100 feet) to respond to client behaviors
  • Indoor and Outdoor Settings: The ability to work in both indoor and outdoor settings, including client homes and community locations
