Job Overview

We are currently seeking a talented and dedicated Early Childhood Learning Assistant to join our team. As an Early Childhood Learning Assistant, you will play a vital role in developing activities for preschool children, assisting teachers in implementing educational objectives, and promoting parent involvement in the program. Key Responsibilities

  • Implement approved curricula in the classroom, guiding and facilitating activities for preschool children, including daily activities and field trips
  • Cooperate with other staff and classroom groups to maintain the smooth functioning of the center, adapting to meet the needs of the children as required
  • Write weekly observations per assessment procedure, using parent conferences to discuss child development and progress, and assist parents in developing observational skills
  • Eat with and assist children in developing social and self-help skills, promoting sound nutritional practices and guiding children's acquisition of social skills
  • Attend staff training and meetings, board and parent meetings as requested, and assist in providing and maintaining a safe and healthy developmentally appropriate environment
  • Assist the teacher in ensuring that at least 80% of the children are kindergarten ready, and maintain a comprehensive and ongoing portfolio assessment for each child
  • Assist in conducting home visits and parent conferences, recruiting and orienting volunteers, and maintaining strict confidentiality with respect to Head Start/Early Head Start children, families, and staff

Essential Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent and a National Child Development Associate Credential (CDA) or Florida Child Care Professional Certificate (FCCPC) for Pre-school or Infant/Toddler Endorsement
  • Alternatively, an Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a teaching team, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to adapt to changing circumstances and priorities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in early childhood education, particularly in a preschool or Head Start setting
  • Knowledge of child development principles and practices, with a strong understanding of how to promote learning and development in young children
  • Ability to speak multiple languages, with a strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with children, families, and colleagues
  • Ability to guide and facilitate activities, with a strong understanding of child development principles and practices
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to adapt to changing circumstances and priorities
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion

Compensation, Perks, and Benefits
