Key Responsibilities

As a Clerk I - Administrative Support Specialist, you will be responsible for:
  • Typing or word processing correspondence, filing documents, and maintaining accurate records
  • Answering telephone calls, providing information, routing calls, and taking messages
  • Entering data into a computer, verifying, calculating, and computing numbers
  • Duplicating and processing forms, reports, and documents
  • Preparing lists, records, and reports from records and files
  • Greeting clients and visitors, directing them to office locations for service or assistance
  • Examining records and forms for errors, correcting mistakes, and collecting data
  • Performing related work as required

Examples of Work

Under close supervision, you will:
  • Prepare lists, records information on forms, complete and process standard forms, documents, and reports, and correct mistakes
  • Duplicate, collate, and mail correspondence and documents, and maintain records and files
  • Answer phone calls, provide information, take messages, and route calls
  • Receive and distribute mail
  • File documents and maintain records and files
  • Verify, calculate, and compute numbers
  • Greet clients and visitors and direct them to office locations for service or assistance
  • Examine records and forms for errors, and correct mistakes
  • Collect data, prepare simple numerical and departmental reports from records and files, and enter data into a computer
  • Type or word process memorandums, letters, minutes, reports, forms, and other documents

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

As a remote worker, you will be expected to:

  • Meet regular and punctual attendance standards
  • Be available for mandatory overtime and perform related work as required

Minimum Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must:
  • Have a high school diploma or the equivalent
  • Be willing to undergo a pre-employment polygraph test
  • Not have been convicted of a felony (misdemeanor convictions will be considered on an individual basis)

Special Requirements

Applicants and employees in positions that perform job duties that may require contact with offenders in the custody or supervision of the Department of Juvenile Justice or with youth in the care, custody, or supervision of Youth Development must meet qualifications pursuant to the federal Prison Rape Elimination Act, 28 CFR 115.17 and 115.317, to include periodic post-employment criminal background checks.
