Stanford Health Care is a renowned leader in providing state-of-the-art diagnosis and treatment for patients with various kinds of infections. Our infectious disease team is expanding and seeking an experienced per diem Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our team. As a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant, you will have the opportunity to work remotely from home, collaborating with our team to manage complex patients, particularly those with acute COVID-19, in conjunction with our infusion center to administer IV medications.

About the Role

This position is designed for a highly skilled and experienced APP who can evaluate and treat patients with both acute and chronic complaints, as well as health maintenance concerns related to infectious diseases. You will work closely with our team of healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care and services to our patients. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of infectious diseases, excellent clinical skills, and the ability to work independently and effectively in a remote setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Patient Evaluation and Treatment: Evaluate and treat patients with acute and chronic complaints related to infectious diseases, including obtaining complete histories, performing pertinent physical exams, and assessing normal and abnormal findings.
  • Diagnostic Studies: Order and evaluate diagnostic studies as indicated, including laboratory tests and therapeutic procedures.
  • Medication Management: Administer medications according to formulary protocol or upon patient-specific approval.
  • Specimen Collection: Order and collect specimens for routine laboratory tests and therapeutic procedures.
  • Care Coordination: Facilitate coordination of inpatient and outpatient care and services as needed, including collaboration with providers and community resources.
  • Quality Improvement: Participate in quality improvement initiatives and provide patient education and counseling.
  • Communication: Effectively communicate and interact with patients, families, and staff from diverse backgrounds.
  • Life-Saving Procedures: Recognize situations requiring immediate physician attention and initiate life-saving procedures when necessary.

Requirements:

Essential Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree or above from an accredited college or university.
  • Graduation: Graduate of a PA program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant, Inc.
  • Licensure: PA - Physician Assistant State Licensure.
  • Certification: BLS - Basic Life Support certification.
  • Registration: DEA - Drug Enforcement Administration registration.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience: Experience in infectious disease management.
  • Telehealth: Familiarity with telehealth practices and technologies.
  • Independence: Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
