Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Diagnostic Medical Sonography Instructor - Adjunct to join our team at Platt College Los Angeles. As an instructor, you will play a vital role in shaping the future of medical imaging by providing high-quality instruction to students in our Diagnostic Medical Sonography program. Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide quality instruction to students in the Diagnostic Medical Sonography program, ensuring that they meet the program and course objectives.
  • Maintain an organized, disciplined classroom environment that is conducive to learning and imparts the requirements of the relevant workplace setting to existing students.
  • Develop and implement effective lesson plans, assessments, and evaluations to measure student progress.
  • Foster a positive and supportive learning environment that encourages students to ask questions, explore ideas, and develop their critical thinking skills.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry developments and advancements in diagnostic medical sonography, incorporating this knowledge into the curriculum as needed.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement program curriculum, policies, and procedures.
  • Participate in department meetings, faculty meetings, and other college events as required.

Essential Qualifications:

  • At least four (4) years of experience as a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) with certification in Abdomen and OB.
  • A minimum of an AA/AS degree in a related subject area from an accredited college (Associates level instructors) or a minimum of a BA/BS degree in a related subject area from an accredited college (Bachelors level instructors).
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of professional career paths for which students are enrolled.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to provide a positive and effective learning environment.
  • Ability to motivate, dedicate, and demonstrate enthusiasm for teaching.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in teaching or instructing in a medical or educational setting.
  • Familiarity with curriculum development and implementation.
  • Experience with assessment and evaluation methods.
  • Knowledge of adult learning principles and theories.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Understanding of education environments, including the needs of adult learners.
  • Ability to provide a positive and effective learning environment.
  • Knowledge and understanding of professional career paths for which students are enrolled.
  • Motivation, dedication, and enthusiasm for teaching.
  • Good organization and communication skills.

Employment Status:

This is an adjunct, hourly, non-exempt position. Adjunct faculty hours are determined by the scheduled courses in a particular module. Adjunct faculty are scheduled as needed with no guarantee of hours at any time and scheduled hours are generally under 25 per week.
