Job Overview: Packaging Strategy Lead - Data
We're seeking a highly skilled Packaging Strategy Lead - Data to join our Owned Brands team. As a Packaging Strategy Lead, you'll play a critical role in driving the development of packaging strategies that are guest-driven, on-brand, and competitively significant. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams to optimize packaging design, ensure compliance with industry regulations, and drive sustainability initiatives. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain data requirements and taxonomy structures to support packaging design optimization and sustainability efforts across Owned Brand organizations.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to establish relevant data requirements and flexible guidelines that consistently reflect our commitment to safety, reliability, cost-effectiveness, and performance.
- Create and manage change processes to ensure accurate packaging document management portfolios across multiple systems and partner teams.
- Develop and execute training programs to drive comprehensive understanding of standards, specifications, and data accuracy best practices.
- Analyze data requirements and specifications to advance safe, reliable, and cost-effective solutions that align with industry standards and enhance guest experience.
- Provide support and guidance to cross-functional teams and colleagues to ensure proper interpretation and enforcement of packaging data requirements, standards, and specifications.
- Collaborate with global partners to drive effective communication and roadshows around stated objective development, compliance, and data accuracy best practice requirements and expectations.
- Utilize data to identify trends or issues and measure the effectiveness of training delivered and communications sent.
- Research industry trends and assess Target's corresponding data and standards practices, sharing insights and recommendations with the appropriate audience for change and compliance.
- Lead and manage teams to drive effectiveness and efficiency in results, fostering a positive team culture that embodies Target's values of inclusivity, collaboration, and drive.
Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field.
- 4+ years of experience creating and managing documentation and guidelines projects, preferably in packaging design and development.
- Proven ability to influence without authority, manage projects, work with groups, resolve conflict, build consensus, establish rapport, and collaborate effectively, both internally and externally, across all levels of an organization.
- Experience with documentation best practices, technical writing, and reporting.
- Skilled at creating and advising on content, structure, and delivery of effective training stages, roadshows, and communications.
- Experience leading teams or projects, driving collaboration, empowerment, and teamwork.
- Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, creative thinking, and analytical skills.
- Related knowledge of packaging or consumer products manufacturing is preferred.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Adaptability and resilience; comfortable working in uncertain and constantly changing environments.
- Ability to prioritize, manage multiple tasks, and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel), Visio applications.

- Knowledge of industry trends and best practices in packaging design and development.
