About OnBrand and the Global Advertising and Brand Management Organization

The Global Advertising and Brand Management (GABM) organization is dedicated to creating marketplace demand and driving commerce for American Express through differentiated and innovative ideas, products, partnerships, marketing, and customer experiences. OnBrand is on an exciting journey of expansion, and our ambition is to become the creative partner of choice for building seamless customer experiences for our Business Units. We are focused on developing forward-thinking ideas and working across channels, end-to-end experiences in digital and beyond.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and motivation, conveying the vision and values of the agency to multiple creative teams
  • Mentor creative team members, providing clear direction and constructive feedback to help them grow and develop
  • Craft big ideas and experiences that drive commerce and create seamless customer experiences
  • Develop holistic and robust, memorable, and famous creative campaigns from start to finish, across multiple channels, including video, print, digital, social, and email
  • Build deep client relationships, enabling seamless delivery of high-quality creative content
  • Bring cohesive creative direction to the Executive Creative Director and assist in delivering creative ideas to business units where relevant
  • Actively identify new opportunities and future trends, staying ahead of the curve in the marketing and advertising industry
  • Build, mentor, and hire talent to amplify a culture of inclusion and belonging, ensuring that our team is diverse, talented, and motivated
  • Find creative opportunities where possible, even if they haven't been assigned, and actively engage in hiring and training of creative staff alongside the creative services lead

Essential Qualifications

  • 12 years of experience in Art Direction or copy, preferably within a marketing/advertising agency
  • 4 years at a Creative Director level, overseeing multiple creative teams and guiding concept creation and setting creative direction
  • Experience overseeing and guiding multiple teams, with a proven track record of success in leading and motivating teams
  • Ability to understand marketing insights and strategies, translating them into compelling advertising campaigns that are digital-first
  • Ability to combine conceptual creative thinking with high-quality content delivery, with captivating presentation skills and exceptional strategic thinking
  • Strong conceptual skills, with experience crafting creative strategies and tailoring messaging to keep the audience in mind
  • Managing/supervising Creative talent, with industry-awarded work preferred

  • Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with a proven ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines
  • Strong understanding of the marketing and advertising industry, with a keen eye for trends and emerging technologies
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams, including sales, marketing, and product development
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze data and metrics to inform creative decisions
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders

Compensation, Perks, and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary range of $130,000.00 to $205,000.00 annually, bonus equity (if applicable), and benefits. Our benefits include:
