About the Team and the Role
The Trust and Safety (T&S) team at YouTube is dedicated to making the platform a safe and welcoming space for users, creators, and advertisers. As the Senior Director, Global Head of Adversarial Abuse and Analytics, you will be responsible for leading the Adversarial Abuse team, which focuses on identifying and mitigating threats from malicious actors, and the Business Analytics team, which provides data-driven insights to inform our strategies. Your expertise will be crucial in developing and implementing effective solutions to combat emerging threats, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and driving business growth through data-driven decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the Adversarial Abuse team in identifying and mitigating threats from malicious actors, including account takeovers, spam, engagement abuse, and evasion of termination
- Develop and implement effective strategies to combat emerging threats, using data-driven insights and collaboration with cross-functional teams
- Collaborate with the Policy Development team to create policies that describe malicious behavior, using account, social, and content signals
- Deliver effective and efficient operational performance, including quality and service levels, in a global team working 24x7
- Engage, retain, manage, and develop top talent, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning
- Manage accelerations with tight timelines, providing data-driven insights and implementing solutions while building relationships with key cross-functional partners
Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., mathematics, engineering, computer science) or equivalent practical experience
- At least 2 years of experience in risk management, fraud fighting at scale, and building/deploying analytical models
- At least 2 years of experience working with engineering teams that shape data infrastructure and ML models
- At least 2 years of experience leading teams with the ability to work non-standard weeks of work as accelerations require
Preferred Qualifications
While not required, the following qualifications are preferred:
- A postgraduate degree in a related field (e.g., mathematics, engineering, computer science)
- At least 2 years of experience in analysis of large datasets and anomaly detection
- Experience or demonstrated interest in anti-abuse activities
- Knowledge of SQL, R, or Matlab
- Exceptional influencing and leadership skills, with the ability to build relationships with cross-functional partners
- Excellent business judgment, strategic and analytical skills, including using data to drive strategy and business action, with the ability to work in a fast-paced industry and manage ambiguity while minimizing uncertainty through quantitative insights
