Job Summary:
As a Learning Center Student Tutor, you will provide individualized content and skill-development tutoring to students in a remote setting. You will work with students on a drop-in or by-appointment basis, as directed, and attend a 4-6 hour tutor training session in the fall and spring semesters. This role offers flexible scheduling, with up to 20 hours of work per week during the fall semester, and opportunities for renewal.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individualized content and skill-development tutoring to students (tutees)
- Refer students to proper resources/offices based on individual need
- Complete required tutor training hours each semester, and on an as-needed basis
- Maintain strict confidentiality of all student information, material, and discussions shared during each tutoring session
- Adhere to a set schedule throughout the semester
- Maintain student tutoring records as required

Candidate Qualifications:
To be considered for this role, you must:
- Be currently enrolled at Oakton Community College and in at least 6 credit hours during the Fall and Spring semesters
- Have an overall GPA of 2.0 or higher and be in good standing at Oakton Community College
- Have an "A" or "B" average in courses being tutored and provide instructor referral/recommendation as required
- Be able to stand and sit for extended periods of time
- Demonstrate reliability and responsibility
- Be friendly, flexible, organized, courteous, and punctual
- Possess exceptional communication and organizational skills with strong detail orientation
- Have proficiency and experience using Microsoft Office and Google technology (GSUITE)
- Be able to work independently or as a team
- Speaking additional languages is helpful, but not required
