About the Role

We're seeking a dedicated and passionate Substitute Teacher to join our team in Ringwood, NJ. As a Substitute Teacher with Scoot Education, you'll have the flexibility to choose your assignments and work on your own schedule. Our substitutes are the backbone of our operation, and we're committed to providing you with the tools and support you need to excel in the classroom.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality instruction and support to students in the absence of their regular teacher
• Develop and implement lesson plans, ensuring continuity of learning for students
• Manage classroom behavior and create a positive learning environment
• Communicate effectively with school staff, administrators, and parents
• Participate in 1:1 check-ins with your Scoot consultant to discuss school feedback and develop your skills
• Engage in ongoing training and professional development to enhance your teaching practices

Essential Qualifications

• Associate or Bachelor's degree, or 60+ college credits
• NJ Substitute Credential
• Three professional references, including one from a previous direct supervisor
• Background check and TB risk assessment (we'll cover the cost of this)
• Full COVID-19 vaccination
• A passion for education and putting students first
• An empathetic nature, a growth mindset, and a drive to be the best you can be

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Substitute Teacher or in a related educational role
• Special education experience or certification
• Experience working with diverse student populations
• Strong classroom management skills
