Job Summary
The Actuarial Development Program is a comprehensive program that provides participants with the opportunity to develop their actuarial skills, business knowledge, and leadership abilities. As an Actuarial Development Program Analyst, you will be responsible for supporting the Actuarial team in various activities, including risk evaluation, rate filing, reserve analysis, pricing, and data analysis. You will work closely with experienced actuaries and other stakeholders to gain a deeper understanding of the business and develop your technical skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in all four rotations of the Actuarial Development Program, which will immerse you in key business areas and provide exposure to risk evaluation, rate filing, reserve analysis, pricing, and data analysis
- Support the Actuarial team in evaluating and analyzing data to inform business decisions
- Develop and maintain technical skills, including proficiency in actuarial software and programming languages such as SAS, Python, Excel, VBA, SQL, or R
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and mitigate risks, and to develop and implement solutions to business problems
- Communicate complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders, both verbally and in writing
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging technologies, and apply this knowledge to improve business outcomes
Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need to meet the following essential qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and develop creative solutions
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines
- Strong technical skills, including proficiency in actuarial software and programming languages such as SAS, Python, Excel, VBA, SQL, or R
Preferred Qualifications
While not required, the following preferred qualifications will be considered an asset:
- Internship or work experience supporting actuarial functions of an organization or group
- Demonstrated leadership experience, such as active roles in student or social organizations, or sports
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders
- Experience with data analysis and interpretation, including the ability to identify trends and insights
- Ability to work in a team environment and support collaboration and a positive atmosphere to improve team effectiveness
